AdvantaClean of the Piedmont- Arthur Dick

AdvantaCleanAdvantaClean of the Piedmont was born out of an idea and desire to build a family business that fit my skill set of construction and building systems with a keen eye toward quality and customer service.

After working in the family business until 1984, I had a strong desire to “do my own thing,” and that meant construction. I started at the bottom when I was 16, working for a family friend. From running wheelbarrows and shovels, I gradually worked my way up to lead carpenter, building and remodeling homes.

From there, I started my own company, Arthur Construction here in the Piedmont. For 20 years we enjoyed success as a general contractor, with a focus on custom building and remodeling. Our projects varied in size, but many were well over $3 million dollars.

In 2008, I started looking for new challenges. I believed owning a franchise business would offer me the opportunity of building a family legacy, using my construction skill sets, and allowing me the control over the day to day operations of a business. AdvantaClean, the nation’s premier light environmental service company, appeared to be the best fit. I purchased the four territories of Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, and Burlington to start AdvantaClean of the Piedmont.

AdvantaCleanSo why AdvantaClean? It’s based in North Carolina, and it fits my skill sets. But the most important factor was after meeting with the CEO/Founder of AdvantaClean, Jeff Dudan, I happily discovered the company’s values and culture align very well with my own: honesty, integrity, dependability, service to others and the community.  Plus, the business model is very sound and one I’m completely comfortable with following.

AdvantaClean of the Piedmont focuses on creating a safe, healthy and more efficient indoor environment for homes and businesses by providing these core services:

  • Emergency water cleanup and restoration
  • Moisture control in crawl spaces and basements
  • Mold remediation (inspections, testing, and removal)
  • HVAC system cleaning- air ducts, dryer vents, cooling towers and coils

I knew I would need help running my new venture, so I brought in my stepson, Pete Georges. He partners with me operating the business, with an eye to taking it over in the future. I’m hoping this is the first step in building a profitable, community-oriented, family owned and operated business for generations to come.
